What do I do if I can’t make my payment?

How can I be sure my online activity is secure?

Credit card companies, banks and other financial institutions have spent millions of dollars to secure their Web sites and keep their customers’ transaction and personal information safe. Typically, these companies use highly complex encryption software.

Web sites that are secure have URLs that begin with "https." The "s" at the end of the word signifies that the site is secure. Secure Web sites will also often show a closed padlock icon at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Can I change my address, phone number, and e-mail address online?

Yes, log into the Cardmember Support Center, go to Update Contact Info. You can change your account information in addition to managing other aspects of your account.

Can I pay my Discover Card bill online?

Yes, log into the Cardmember Support Center, go to "Make a Payment."

If you are enrolled in the Direct Payment Plan and would like to pay your Discover Card bill online, please call 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) to cancel your enrollment in the Direct Payment Plan.

How far before my due date should I schedule my payment if I use a bill payment service to pay my Discover Card account?

The time it takes a payment to reach us depends on how it is handled by the bill payment service or bank. Some services, for example, process payment requests only once a day or once a week, while others process the requests electronically, but then send paper checks. Processing time may also be affected by weekends and bank holidays. To learn how your bill payment service or bank processes your payment requests, please contact them directly.

A faster way to make sure your payment is credited to your account is to pay online in the Cardmember Support Center using

  • Make a Payment.Same-day payments can be made prior to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
  • You can also schedule payments up to your due date.

Payment Posting Information

  • Payments can be made every day

  • Payments submitted before 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time with a payment posting date of today will be posted to your account today

  • After 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, payments cannot be submitted with a posting date of that same day

  • Payments scheduled for the future will post on date selected

  • Online payments scheduled, but not yet posted, can be canceled online up until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the Payment Posting Date and will not post to your account

  • Phone payments scheduled, but not yet posted, can be canceled online up until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the Payment Posting Date and will not post to your account
